Danish photographers distinguish themselves internationally and gain recognition for their contribution world wide. Copenhagen Photo Festival was founded in 2010 with a wish to focus on photography and present significant Danish and international contemporary photography in urban space, art and cultural institutions, galleries and schools. We are confronted with photography every day in the media, public space and contemporary art. The festival wishes to enhance our awareness of what the photos surrounding us are based upon, what shapes them and what they are telling us. The aim for Copenhagen Photo Festival is to create an international platform for contemporary photography in Denmark. A platform, which explores photography in all its facets, a platform for theoretical discussions and presentation of new pieces, where the national and international art scene, the professional photo scene and young photo talents as well as the amateur photo enthusiast can meet and explore contemporary photography.
